L'Isle Castle
Built in 1696 by Charles de Chandieu, the Château de l’Isle is a monument steeped in history. Originating from around 1700 during the classical era in France, this building greatly resembles that of the architectural movement of the time, where the Château de Versailles was built.
The, “La Vénoge” river has enabled the Château to benefit from a beautiful French garden, as well as a river basin bordered by two tree-lined paths. At first the Chandieu family lived in the old residence until the end of the 18th century. François Louis Roulet of Neuchâtel was the first to live there in the 19th century, and then it was handed down through marriage to the Cornaz Family of Montet Cudrefin.
In 1876, the commune of l’Isle bought and restored the château. Today it houses the municipal department of housing and classrooms. Since 1941, the château has been a listed building.

Sources de la Venoge
A seventh source is a few metres to the east of Le Chauderon. It feeds the Venogette, a tributary of the Venoge. The space between these two rivers formed an "island", which probably gave the name to the village of L'Isle.
The main source, Le Chauderon, is located in the lower area of the City. It is a Vaucluse source. 700 m further upstream is Le Puits, which is in fact an overflow of Le Chauderon.
This source only comes into action during heavy rains or when the snow melts. At a still undetermined period, perhaps Roman, a dam was built to direct the water into canals located on either side of the river in order to irrigate the fields or bring water to an inhabited site.

Distillerie de Bassins
At an altitude of 750 m, the Distillerie de Bassins grows a wide variety of medicinal plants using ecological methods. Here, sage, parsley, camomile, lavender, lovage, thyme, dill, tarragon, oregano, silver fir or bee balm are harvested and put into a vat, either whole or cut up depending on the plant. The distillery uses low pressure steam to extract a 100% pure, natural essential oil with no additives or further processing.
Due to the high quality of the distillery’s essential oils and hydrolats, they are widely used in Switzerland and elsewhere for the production of perfumes and fragrances and the distillery has been marketing its own line of cosmetics since 2002.
With a new 8,000 litre distillation unit opened in 2005, Jean-Marc Genevay and Frédéric Guenin, the son and nephew of the founders, are continuing the quest for excellence begun in 1975.

The ancient cluniac Priory - Bassins
Only the church of the original rural priory has survived, probably of the 12th century. According to historians, the Priory of Bassins was a dependency of the Priory of Payerne, following a donation by Humbert 1st, Sire of Cossonay and Prangins, previous to the year 1164, when appears the name of the first known Prior, which marks its affiliation with the Abbey of Cluny in Burgundy.
In the bay-windows of the choir and of the North-East chapel, you can admire the stained glasses created by Marcel Poncet (1894 - 1953), an artist who lived in Vich. From the graveyard around the church you can enjoy an exceptional panorama on the Lake Geneva, the Alps and Mont-blanc.
