Orbe is reputed for its gourmet events, also thanks to the nearby vineyards and the typical and dynamic restaurants such as the Croix d’Or. The restaurant is run by the Calvetti family who endeavours to perpetrate the traditions, convivial atmosphere and simple but tasty recipes.
The meals and lively evenings at the Croix d’Or are part of the everyday life of the inhabitants of Orbe. People visiting this town near Yverdon-les-Bains like to immerse themselves in the local life during a gourmet break in this friendly restaurant.
The Calvetti family has long-standing experience in gastronomy. It took over the restaurant from the former managers who were local figures and has endeavoured to perpetrate their traditions since 2017. Typical local dishes such as cabbage sausage and Papet Vaudois are still on the menu, but the young Chef is gradually introducing original and exotic dishes, as a little reverence to his mother from the Caribbean. One example is his home-made hamburger smoked in a glass container. The guests love it!
The dishes of the day with an excellent price-quality ratio are offered with the wines of the nearby Côtes de l’Orbe AOC vineyards.
