Chasseron, an emblematic summit of the Vaudois Jura, offers an exceptional panorama from the top of its 1,600 m above sea level. In winter, it is accessible with snowshoes or sealskins (via the snowshoe trails marked in pink).
Ski touring (or sealskin skiing), a demanding sport, is back in favour with sportspeople who wish to set themselves a challenge while combining their physical efforts with the beauty of the snowy nature. The relief of the Vaudois Jura is perfect for an introduction to this sport in a splendid and inspiring setting.
After tackling a pleasant difference in height of 400 m, the hikers arrive at the top of Chasseron (via the snowshoe trails marked in pink) and can admire the magnificent 360° view over an Alpine panorama of more than 250 km. Afterwards you may feel like enjoying some sustenance at the Hôtel du Chasseron (on booking only), such as the specialty called “Fondue au Mauler”. When the ski lifts open, please use the alpine ski slopes to go downhill. Please stay on the marked trails and slopes in order to respect and preserve wildlife.
For guests who do not stay at the hotel, the restaurant Le Chasseron offers take-away drinks and hot meals on Saturdays and Sundays (weather permitting).
The car parks are located in Les Cluds, La Magnena, Col des Etroits or L'Auberson.
The car parks located at Les Rasses are reserved for skiers and cross-country skiers.
