Vallorbe - Culture and heritage
The Festival des Couteliers takes over the Musée du Fer et du Chemin de Fer de Vallorbe over the Easter weekend. In the heart of the historic Grandes-Forges district, cutlery craftsmen and enthusiasts come together to share their latest creations. Atmosphere, entertainment and specialities to sample.
After record-breaking editions in 2022 and 2023 (4,000 visitors!), focusing on medieval fantasy and Scotland, the Museum is offering a 2024 edition focusing on the kitchen knife.
The Festival des Couteliers takes place every year on Easter Saturday, Sunday and Monday. It's an opportunity for visitors to meet cutlery craftsmen from all over the world, talk to collectors and discover magnificent creations, knives and valuable pieces. The museum's two forges, activated by the waterwheels, vibrate with the rustle of belts and hammer blows. An opportunity to discover metalworking, from iron to bronze. The museum contains unique treasures: a 277-metre model railway, the largest set of waterwheels in Switzerland... Catering and tasting of specialties on site.
In 2024, events will be organized around gastronomy and, more specifically, the kitchen knife. Exhibitors will be showcasing their finest tableware and kitchen knives.
