Vallorbe - Culture and heritage
The Cutlers’ Festival moves into the Vallorbe Iron and Railway Museum over the Easter weekend. The master craftsmen of cutlery and enthusiasts meet up in the heart of the historic district of the Grandes-Forges to share their new products. Ambiance, entertainment; tasting local specialities.
After a record edition in 2022 (4'000 visitors!), the Museum will vibrate to the sound of bagpipes with three guests from the Isle of Skye in Scotland.
The Festival des Couteliers takes place every year on Saturday, Sunday and Easter Monday. It is an opportunity for the visitor to meet cutlers from all over the world, to exchange with collectors and to discover magnificent creations, knives and valuable pieces. The two forges of the museum activated by the waterwheels vibrate with the rustle of belts and hammer blows. It is an opportunity to discover the work of metal, from the manufacture of iron to that of bronze. The museum contains unique treasures: a model railway with 277 meters of track, the largest set of waterwheels in Switzerland... Catering and tasting of specialties on site. This year, the guests of honor will put the Festival under the sign of Scotland with Jake Cleland, Garth Duncan and Gareth Duncan. Bagpipes, Haggis, Celtic forge, log throwing, axe throwing and archery will punctuate the weekend of April 8, 9 and 10, 2023 at the Iron Museum in Vallorbe.
