Vallorbe - Culture and heritage
The Cutlers’ Festival moves into the Vallorbe Iron and Railway Museum over the Easter weekend. The master craftsmen of cutlery and enthusiasts meet up in the heart of the historic district of the Grandes-Forges to share their new products. Ambiance, entertainment; tasting local specialities.
The Cutlers’ Festival is held each year on the Saturday, Sunday and Monday of Easter. The visitor can meet master craftsmen of cutlery from all over the world, trade with collectors and discover magnificent creations, knives and valuable pieces.
The two forges of the museum are driven by water-wheels and vibrate with the sounds of the drive belts and hammer blows. This is your chance to discover metal-working, from the production of iron to that of bronze.
The museum exhibits unique treasures: model railway with 277 metres of tracks, the largest set of water-wheels in Switzerland… Restaurant and tasting the local specialities.
This year, the Festival's guest of honour will put the spotlight on medieval fantasy. Troubadour, medieval forge and sword fights will punctuate the weekend of 16, 17 and 18 April 2022 at the Vallorbe Iron Museum. Armedia, a French company specialising in the production of historical costumes, weapons and armour for the entertainment industry, has notably produced the weapons, armour, costumes and accessories for the series and film Kaamelott.
