Grandson - Culture et patrimoine
Every year, in mid-August, the public is able to relive the age of knights and chivalry during the medieval festival against the sumptuous backdrop of the Château of Grandson. Large numbers of passionate, enthralled visitors fill the gardens, courtyards and impressive halls of the castle.
Dressed in medieval costume loaned to them for the occasion, the visitors can become totally immersed in the Middle Ages thanks to a rich programme of events: musicians, jugglers, dancers and artisans rub shoulders with companies re-enacting medieval scenes.
Numerous forms of entertainment are offered specially for children: shows for the ‘younger public’, games, initiation into dancing, fencing.... all can try their hand at writing with a goose quill, turning the potter’s wheel, spinning wool, or dressing stone.
From the smell of roast stag to the taste of the craft beers, by way of the fracas of armed combat and melodies played on medieval instruments, without question the charm of the event never fails to work on all the senses!
