Orbe - Sport
This cycling event over 333 km in one single day is an exceptional challenge! Under the patronage of the racing cyclist Danilo Wyss, it provides a sense of pride and striking views for the participants. Departure at night with an illuminated peloton, sunrise in the Jura mountains with the finishing line in the centre of the town of Orbe.
According to the magazine ‘Le Cycle’, this endurance race created by Samuel Wyss in 1999, ranks among the 50 most beautiful cycling events in the world. It requires solid preparation both physically and mentally. Danilo Wyss reminds us: ‘Everything is mainly a mental process’.
Departing at night from the Market Place, the cyclists cross the Plain of Orbe before attacking the ascent to Sainte-Croix for sun rise, finally arriving back in Orbe. The circuit continues over 222 km towards Fribourg before returning to Orbe. No rankings, just the pleasure of having taken up the challenge and to have finished the race in the late afternoon after cycling 333 km and an altitude difference of 3200 metres!
There are also 111 km and 222 km versions of the circuit that is open to electric bicycles.
