Vallorbe - Events
The guided walking tours organised by the Vallorbe Iron and Railway Museum lift the veil on some of the mysteries of the region’s history. One of these open air walking tours goes in search of the old Jougne branch line and the other rediscovers the remains of old factories which have now disappeared from the banks of the Orbe.
Driven by the desire to reinvest and enhance its environment, the Iron and Rail Museum has created two historical discovery routes in the middle of nature.
26 August 2023 : On the trail of the Viaduct.
The meeting point is in front of the former Day station. Guided walk on the historical traces of the development of the station and of the village of Le Day, followed by the discovery of the monumental viaduct of Le Day with a walk on the viaduct (beware of vertigo!). Archival photographic documents will be offered to participants.
02 September 2023 : Rail route.
Starting from the magnificent Vallorbe station, the guide takes the walker along the route of the old Jougne line, which was active until 1942 and has now disappeared. Bridges, trenches, embankments, remnants of tracks, all still visible witnesses of this not so distant era
