At the foot of the Jura mountains, Vallorbe’s museums reveal its history in a breathtaking natural setting.
Vallorbe is renowned for its family-friendly tourism offering and its magnificent caves. These are home to spectacular limestone formations created by the River Orbe, which are sublimated by a play of colors, revealing one of the country’s most impressive geological ensembles. The tour ends with the discovery of the Trésor des Fées, a dazzling collection of 250 minerals.
The Pré-Giroud artillery fort tells the story of the strategic defense of the Col de Jougne, with its underground barracks housing up to 200 soldiers at the time. It illustrates an important part of Swiss military history.
The Musée du Fer et du Chemin de Fer, located in the heart of Vallorbe, demonstrates the significant importance of the iron and rail industry to local development and culture. The Festival des Couteliers showcases this theme every year.
The Juraparc on Mont d’Orzeires is a delight for young and old alike, with wolves, bison and bears roaming in semi-liberty in a natural setting.
