Guided tour of the Castrum
Only a few vestiges remain of the very important castrum built by the Romans to protect the port of Eburodunum (the Roman name for Yverdon). Its last remaining walls were torn down during the 19th century.
The guided tour organized by the Tourist Office enables visitors to immerse themselves for 1½ hours in the life of a Roman town and to explore the fascinating history of Eburodunum.
To complete the tour, an additional visit should be programmed to the Castle of Yverdon, which houses the Museum of the Yverdon-les-Bains Region. The permanent exhibition on view at the museum includes two boats from Gallo-Roman times that have been magnificently preserved.
