Maison d’Ailleurs is a museum of science fiction, utopia and extraordinary journeys. It is the only one of its kind in the world. Founded by encyclopaedist Pierre Versins in 1976, Maison d’Ailleurs contains exceptional science fiction collections.

There are more than 40,000 books (in French, English, Romanche or Uzbek, amongst others), some of which are ancient or very rare. In addition, there are 20,000 documents and objects connected with science fiction and its imagery (posters, artworks, toys, discs, etc.) It constitutes a first-rate research and documentation centre.
Maison d'Ailleurs has accommodated a permanent exhibition about Jules Verne since 2008, representing a major collection of objects and documents connected with the French writer. Espace Jules Verne is located in the former Casino and linked to the museum with a footbridge.
