For nature lovers, families or groups of friends: exploring the countryside of the Jura and its culinary pleasures.
The walk is done in three stages, starting from Sainte-Croix (Col des Etroits). It begins with a pretty walk through the forest in the direction of Les Praises, then the Saut-de-l’Eau. At the first gourmet stop at the Chalet de la Mayaz the walker can sample a plate of regional products as an aperitif. (1st. stage: 1 hr 15 mins.)
The second stage brings you to another typical tenant farm, the Chalet du Sollier, which is reached by taking a path across the pastures. Here, surrounded by farm animals, you can sample the speciality of the place, the famous "fondue surprise", served in a loaf of bread. (2nd. stage: 20 mins.),
The well-deserved dessert awaits the walkers at the famous chalet of La Casba, which nestles among the pine trees in the direction of the Chasseron (1607 m). The cream cake and the “menegetz” constitute the inescapable tasty specialities of the place. What’s more, the Croix du Cochet, which dominates the whole valley, is close by (3rd. stage: 30 mins.). The return on the path called the Chemin aux Vaches takes about 45 mins.
It is also possible to do the tour in the opposite direction.
