Swiss Museum of Fashion

Yverdon-les-Bains Castle houses three separate museums, including the Swiss Museum of Fashion. This original cultural destination is a must for fashionistas, the vast majority of its temporary exhibitions comprising the archives of the Vaudois couturier, Robert Piguet.

Opened in 1982, the Swiss Museum of Fashion holds its temporary exhibitions and associated activities at Yverdon-les-Bains Castle.

The heart of the museum’s collection consists of the archives of the couturier Robert Piguet (Yverdon-les-Bains 1898-Lausanne 1953). After training with Paul Poiret and Redfern, he founded a fashion house in Paris (1933-1951), employing young stylists like Christian Dior, Marc Bohan and Hubert de Givenchy. At the height of his career, he employed more than 400 people in the French capital.

The museum’s temporary exhibitions on varied themes such as film costumes, the facets of contemporary Swiss haute couture, the designs of Gianni Versace, haute couture prototypes and draping techniques or high tech fabrics are taken from his extensive private collection of around 5,000 items dating from the 18th century to the present day.
