Chasseron, an emblematic summit of the Vaudois Jura, offers an exceptional panorama from the top of its 1,600 m above sea level. In winter, it is accessible with snowshoes or sealskins, thanks to an introductory course offered by the guides of the Sainte-Croix/Les Rasses region.
Ski touring (or sealskin skiing), a demanding sport, is back in favour with sportspeople who wish to set themselves a challenge while combining their physical efforts with the beauty of the snowy nature. The relief of the Vaudois Jura is perfect for an introduction to this sport in a splendid and inspiring setting.
The guides of the Sainte-Croix/Les Rasses region accompany groups of four to eight participants to tackle the Chasseron mountain (1,607 m), a must in the Vaudois Jura. Intended as a stroll and an introductory course, the itinerary is the opportunity to try your hand at ski touring with professionals while enjoying the scenery. After tackling a pleasant difference in height of 400 m, the hikers arrive at the top of Chasseron and can admire the magnificent 360° view over an Alpine panorama of more than 250 km. Afterwards you may feel like enjoying some sustenance at the Hôtel du Chasseron (on booking only), such as the specialty called “Fondue au Mauler”.
