The church of Chavannes-le-Chêne
The visitor is surprised by the unusual position of the little mediaeval church of Chavannes-le-Chêne, intriguingly perched above the town of Yvonand.
The interior of the tiny church reinforces the sense of intimacy and encourages quiet meditation. The original church was burned to the ground in 1320.
Rebuilt in its present, slightly larger form, it was restored in 1950, when it was officially classified as a historical monument
